For referrers and municipalities

This page brings together what you need to assess whether Spira Centrum is a suitable provider and how to refer a case. If something is missing, please get in touch.

  • Outpatient, in the child's own setting

We work at home, at school and in the neighbourhood. No group location, no transport question, and skills are practised where they are needed.

  • Aimed at the gap between provisions

Children who are not yet ready for a group or special education, but who receive too little individually to be able to make that step.

  • Culturally responsive

Treatment in Dutch and English, with Portuguese within the team, matched to the family's parenting context.

When we are a fit

Spira Centrum is an outpatient provider of behavioural therapy, communication-focused therapy and family therapy. We are generally a fit when:

  • individual treatment is needed before participation in a group is realistic
  • behaviour and communication need to be addressed together
  • the family system has to be part of the approach
  • language or cultural context affects whether treatment connects
  • a child is at home because of a waiting list and cannot afford to stall

We are not a fit for crisis placement, secure youth care, diagnostic assessment or medication management. In those cases we refer back or help think through the right route.

Referral route

A referral can be made directly by you, or by the parents citing your name. We confirm receipt within a few working days and schedule an intake.

After the intake we let you know whether we are a fit and what the expected waiting time is. If we are not a fit, we say so, with a brief explanation.

Quality and accountability

We are building our quality system along HKZ principles and work on a risk-based basis. That includes:

  • structured documentation and record keeping
  • justified choice of methods
  • periodic evaluation of goals and outcomes
  • a fixed improvement cycle
  • a privacy policy and processing register under the GDPR
  • a complaints procedure

The full documentation is available on request for contracting and assessment.

Working with schools

A large part of our work takes place at school. We align with teachers and learning support staff, connect to existing support structures, and work towards transitions: from individual to group, and from specialist to mainstream.

Funding routes

  • Youth Act, care in kind through a municipal contract
  • Personal budget, pgb
  • Long-term care, Wlz
  • Private funding

  • Individual treatment plan with measurable goals
  • Periodic progress evaluation
